In this historical moment, I felt the need to offer – rather than una a creation too brazen – something that could bring comfort to the spirit, an invitation to connect with oneself and temporarily forget daily worries. Luxe Calme Volupté is a recurring verse from the beautiful poem Invitation au Voyage by Baudelaire: Everything there is order and beauty, Luxury, peace and pleasure. In this poem Baudelaire invites his lover to join him in an exotic place dove where they can live in calm and peace, in the context of his decadent aesthetic. Luxe Calme Volupté is also the name of a beautiful painting by Henri Matisse – very dear to me – which conveys the same ideas that inspired my perfume, namely the contrast between calm and peaceful character on one hand, sensual and decadent elements on the other.
